RADFORD, Va.
– The Radford women’s tennis team closed out the 2010 Big South Conference regular season by dropping a 5-2 decision against UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon at the RU Tennis Courts.

The Highlanders fall to 12-6 overall and 3-4 in conference, while the Bulldogs improve to 14-7 overall and 4-3 in conference.

The match began on a tough note as Radford lost all three doubles matches and fell behind early.

After the Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage, Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sporska Gimnazija) put Radford on the board with a triumph win at No.1 singles.

At No.3 singles, Petra Dajevic (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija ) needed three-sets to dispatch of Louise Bottomley. Dajevic dropped the opening set 6-3, but rebounded to take the second-set 6-2 and forced a third-set tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker she went ahead early and never looked back.

The Highlanders will back on the court April 22 for the first round of the Big South Conference Championships.
