FINAL RESULTS
NINETY-SIX, S.C. – Red-shirt freshman
Weston Eklund (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) fired a one-under 71 Wednesday to lead Radford on the final day of the 2010 Big South Men’s Golf Championships.
The three-day/8-team event was played on the Par 72, 7,079-yard The Patriot Club at Grand Harbor layout.
In addition to recording his sixth sub-par round of the season, Eklund paced the Highlanders on the individual leaderboard placing 20th.
Playing in his final collegiate tournament,
Kyle Bailey (Fincastle,Va./James River) finished one back of Eklund at 225 (73-74-78), while
Michael Wade (Floyd, Va./Floyd) and
Lane Hite (Clarksville, Va./Bluestone) came home 30th and 32nd, respectively.
Also competing for Radford was freshman
Wade Wawner (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam), who concluded the 54-hole event at 241 (72-90-79).
As a team, the Highlanders placed seventh with a total score of 907 (298-304-305).
Coastal Carolina (286-290-292 = 868) claimed the team title, while Liberty’s Robert Karlsson fired a final round 66 to win individual medalists with a three-day score of seven-under.
