RADFORD, Va. – Radford women’s basketball head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba announced the signing of Breshara Gordon (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) to a National Letter-of-Intent, Thursday afternoon.
Gordon comes to Radford from a nationally recognized high school program in Lake Taylor. The Titans, under the direction of Saundra Sawyer, won the 2009-10 Group AAA State Championship and finished the season ranked 21st in the USA Today Super 25 Poll.
Gordon played a key role and hit one of the biggest shots during the Titans’ run to the championship. In the Eastern Region semifinal against First Colonial, she drained a game-winning 25-foot buzzer beater in double overtime. The shot helped Lake Taylor secure its first state tournament appearance in the eight-year tenure of Sawyer.
“Breshara is a wonderful person who comes from a great family,” said Ngongba. “She is a very talented player with a great work ethic. Her passion for the game is amazing. We are delighted to have her join our basketball family.
Along with helping Lake Taylor (30-1) to the state title, the 5-6 guard finished with 1,085 points and earned several accolades during her four-year prep career. Gordon averaged 10 points per contest in four seasons, including 11.1 ppg during her freshman and junior campaigns.
She was a multiple All-Eastern District selection, including first team recognition in 2007 and 2008. Gordon also garnered second team All-Tidewater accolades as a sophomore.
