MEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS WINEGARNER TO LIST OF SIGNEES

RADFORD, Va. – Head Coach Brad Greenberg announced Friday that Lukas Winegarner of Sodertalje, Sweden, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Radford men’s basketball team in 2010-11.
In addition to Winegarner, Martins Abele (Saldus, Latvia / Oak Hill Academy) and Jonathan Edwards (Queens, N.Y. / Tyler Junior College (Texas)) signed with the Highlanders during the late period, while Jareal Smith (Savannah, Ga. / Johnson High School) and Masse Doumbe (Le Mans, France / Polk State College) chose to attend Radford in November.

“Lukas has a good basketball frame, is skilled and agile, has good hands, a sound feel for positioning on defense and a nose for the ball as a rebounder and shot blocker. He can face up and shoot medium range jumpers and is a developing ballhandler and low post player. He loves the game, has dreamed of playing collegiately in the states, and is a strong student from a very supportive family. He comes highly recommended by coaching friends of mine in Sweden and coaches who have worked with him on both the club and national team level.”
