CHRISTIAN SELECTED ESPN THE MAGAZINE/COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

RADFORD, Va.
Brittany Christian (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) of Radford University was named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSida Academic All-District women’s track and field first team, as announced by the organization today.

By being named to the first team, Christian is placed on a national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.

“Simply put, Brittany does everything right,” commented head coach Brent Chumbley. “She embodies what today’s student-athlete should be. She is a brilliant student and an exceptional athlete.”

Along with earning a degree in chemistry and mathematics, Christian graduated with a 3.96 grade point average. She was a two-time recipient of Radford University’s most outstanding student award, while making the Dean’s List every semester.

This past year, she received the Speidel Scholarship for chemistry and was awarded the James Lewis Howe chemistry award by the American Chemical Society Blue Ridge Chapter.

Christian placed second in the 2010 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase with a new school record time of 11:03.03. Her performance earned her all-conference honors.

During here collegiate career, Christian was named the Big South All-Academic team in cross country and track field seven times.
