RADFORD, Va. – Radford University center Art Parakhouski (Minsk, Belarus) will play for the Boston Celtics in The Orlando Summer League, which runs from July 5-10. The Celtics will tip-off their five-game slate July 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder at 5 p.m.
Parakhouski finished his two-year Highlander career ranked among school leaders in scoring (15th / 1195), scoring average (1st / 18.7), total rebounds (4th / 783), rebounds per game (1st / 12.2), field-goal percentage (4th / .561) and blocked shots (4th / 115).
A two-time Big South Player of the Year and AP Honorable Mention All-America selection, the 6-11 senior helped the Highlanders to a 42-24 overall record and 28-8 mark in league play the last two seasons. In 2009, Parakhouski led Radford to the Big South Championship and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the 1998 campaign.
In addition to leading the country in rebounding (13.4) and double-doubles (26) last season, Parakhouski ranked among national leaders in scoring (15th / 21.4) and field-goal percentage (7th / .581).
Named the league's Player of the Week four times in 2009-10, Parakhouski scored in double figures in a league-best 33 straight contests, which included five 30-point efforts and 20 performances with at least 20 points.
Two months after recording just the second 20-20 (26 points, 20 rebounds) game in school history at Duquesne (11/29), Parakhouski charted the first 30-20 performance in the program's 36 years with 30 points and a school single-game record 22 rebounds at VMI on Feb. 2.
