CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Under the direction of first-year head coach Marc Reeves, the Radford men's soccer team has been predicted to finish fifth in the 2010 Big South Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
The annual preseason poll was voted on by the nine league head coaches.
“I am excited to be involved in the highly competitive Big South Conference,” commented Reeves. “Our team looks forward to competing against these strong opponents and excellent coaches.”
For the first time in league history, High Point, which received four first-place votes, was picked first, followed by Coastal Carolina and Winthrop. Following the Chanticleers and Eagles who were voted tied for second with 68 total points, was Liberty, which tallied the final first-place mark.
After Radford's 42 total points and fifth place prediction came Gardner-Webb (32 points), UNC Asheville (30 points), Presbyterian (23 points) and VMI (19 points).
The Highlanders will continue their three-game preseason slate before opening the 2010 regular season at Mt. St. Mary's on Sept. 4 in Emmitsburg, Md.
