RADFORD, Va. – For the second consecutive game, Radford women’s soccer will face a first-time opponent on the pitch when they travel to Florence, S.C. to take on Francis Marion Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
In their season-opener, the Highlanders netted four goals in each half on the way to an 8-0 victory over Southern Virginia Saturday evening. Freshman
Sahar Aflaki (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) recorded a hat trick and
Julie Ruh’e (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) found the back of the net twice in their collegiate debuts to lead the way.
Latrice Lee (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park),
SharDavia Bell (Manassas, Va./Gar-Field) and
Rachel Webber (Damascus, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) tacked on the other goals for Radford in the match.
The Highlanders set the pace of the game, outshooting the Knights 49-2.
The Patriots are currently 0-3 on the young season, falling to High Point, East Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
Following its first of three straight away from home, Radford will participate in the Best Western Huntington Mall Invitational in Huntington, W. Va. next weekend. On Friday, Sept. 3, the Highlanders will play tournament host Marshall at 5:30 p.m. and turnaround on Sunday to face Iona, another first-time opponent, on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 11:30 a.m.
