RADFORD, Va. –
After posting a pair of shutouts to start the season, Radford goalkeeper Jennifer Wisniewski (Centreville, Va./Westfield) was named NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday afternoon.

With the Highlanders opening on the road, Wisniewski recorded six saves in victories over host Ohio and Saint Louis. In the season opener against the Bobcats, the 2009 NorPac East Defensive Player of the Year posted five saves, including four in the first half, to key a 1-0 win over the defending MAC champs. It was the ninth and 10th shutouts of the senior’s collegiate career.

The following day, Wisniewski stopped Saint Louis’ only shot on goal in a 3-0 triumph giving Radford season-opening shutouts for the first time since 1989.

Radford, off to its first 2-0 start since 2006, returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Siena on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Highlanders’ home opener from Dedmon Center Field Hockey Field.
