RADFORD, Va. – Coming off of an undefeated tournament last year, the Highlanders are set to host the second annual RU Volleyball Tournament on the main court of the Dedmon Center this weekend beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
The five-team event (Norfolk State, East Tennessee State, Canisius, Radford and Davidson) will feature three matches Friday followed by five more on Saturday.
In addition to the five talented newcomers and the 11 letterwinners (six starters) from last year’s club, the Highlanders welcome freshman
Emily Carlin (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), who was named to the Robert Morris/Duquesne All-Tournament squad last weekend (Aug. 27-28) by recording 51 kills, 48 digs and 11 total blocks.
Sophomore
Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) will also enter the RU Tournament with 142 assists, 45 digs and 11 kills.
Radford’s 5 p.m. tilt on Friday against Norfolk State marks its first match on the main court of the Dedmon Center.
