WESTON EKLUND SELECTED VaSID FIRST-TEAM ALL-STATE

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Former Radford men's golfer Weston Eklund was named Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) First-Team All-State as announced by the organization Friday and voted on by the Commonwealth's sports information directors.
The honor marks just the second VaSID accolade collected by a Highlander. Josh Meador was selected to the first team in 2007.
Eklund led RU with his 72.6 scoring average, which was tops in the Big South entering the conference championship. The Charlottesville, Va. native turned in 10 sub-par rounds and charted five individual top-10s. His season peaked at the ODU / OBX Invitational where he tied for first at 9-under-par 207 (73-64-70).
Eklund became the 12th Highlander to earn All-Big South recognition and first since 2008. He ascended to as high as 28th during the season in the Golfstat individual national rankings. Furthermore, 24 of Eklund's 27 tournament rounds counted toward the team tally.
