FOY NOMINATED FOR NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR

LIST OF NOMINEES

RADFORD, Va. – Aisha Foy, a 2016 graduate of Radford University and former point guard on the women's basketball team, is among a record 517 nominees for NCAA Woman of the Year. The announcement was made Tuesday.

The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.

Foy, who earned All-Big South first team honors as a senior, averaged a team-best 12.2 points per game. She finished her career with 129 made 3-pointers, which rank fifth all-time in program history.

Off the court, the Virginia Beach, Va., native was RU's Female Senior Leadership Award winner and selected to the WBCA's 'So You Want to be a Coach' program. Foy is set to attend St. John's University in pursuit of her master's degree in the fall.

This pool of school honorees marks the largest in the 26-year history of the award. Of the nominees for the national award, 231 competed in Division I, 117 competed in Division II and 169 competed in Division III athletics. The nominees also represent 21 different women's sports, and 127 of the nominees competed in more than one sport in college.

The NCAA encourages member schools to honor their top graduating female student-athletes each year by submitting their names for consideration for the Woman of the Year award.

Each conference then assesses each nominee's eligibility and selects up to two conference nominees. The conference nominees are then forwarded to the Woman of the Year selection committee, which chooses the top 30 honorees, including 10 from each division.

From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three nominees from each division and announces the top nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will then choose from among those nine to determine the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year. The winner will be announced at a dinner in Indianapolis, Ind., on Oct. 16.
