Willie Johnson
Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country Coach (Jumps)
Willie Johnson, a decorated collegiate athlete and a coach with successful track record, joins head coach Brent Chumbley on the track and field staff at Radford.
Johnson will serve as jumps coach on Chumbley's staff.
He joins the Radford staff after three years as a graduate assistant/jumps coach for the Marshall University women's team, where he guided two All-Conference USA performers, five school record holders, seven conference championship scorers, and three East Regional qualifiers. He also assisted with the sprinters, the throwing event workouts for the multi-event athletes, and coordinated program strength and conditioning efforts.
Johnson is a USATF Level I certified coach, earning his cerification in 2005.
In May of 2008, Johnson earned his Master's Degree in athletic administration from Marshall.
The Orlando, Fla. native excelled as a collegiate triple jumper at both Florida A&M University and Florida State University. As a Seminole, Johnson was a two-time NCAA All-American (2003-04), and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference accolades three times in the outdoor triple jump (2003-05) and once in the indoor triple jump (2004). He currently holds the fifth-best triple jump distance in school history. With the Rattlers, he was an All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honoree in the indoor and outdoor triple jump (2002).
Johnson earned a B.S. in physical education at FSU in 2005.
